Episode Delayed till Next Week

Hello to all followers of the History of Islam podcast! Unfortunately this week's episode will have to be delayed until next week due to issues in the production process. Hopefully this won't happen again, I could have forced out an episode but it would have been incredibly rushed and the quality would be almost certainly sub-par. Essentially it is an issue of quantity vs quality and I hope you all are in support of my decision to favour quality over quantity. What I definitely do not want to do is to just publish an episode for the sake of doing so, my ultimate goal is for every second of every episode to be valuable to the listener whether it be as an informative or entertaining device. Please bear with me in these coming weeks, I promise that we will eventually return to a smoother, more reliable schedule.

That is all from me for now, I will see you next Monday which is the 3rd of October till then take care of yourselves!

Caravan Trade

The (Caravan) Journey of the Winter and the Summer

Apologies for the image being quite small, regardless of that the contents is good. As you can see the red lines show the common/major routes for the summer journey north. The dark blue lines show the common/major routes for the winter journey south. The light green lines show other caravan trade routes. This image is quite good because the different routes are colour coded, for a clearer view refer to the image below which has a higher resolutions than the image above. It shows the major caravan trade routes however it isn't colour coded.

Episode 004 - A Son of Quraysh I [Episode Guide]

Genealogy

Tracing the lineage of the Prophet Muhammed ﷺ

Muhammed son-of Abdallah son-of Abdulmutalib son-of Hashim son-of Abdmanaf son-of Qusai son-of Kilab son-of Murrah son-of Ka'b son-of Lu'ay son-of Ghalib son-of Fihr son-of Malik son-of alNadr son-of Kinana son-of Khuzaima son-of Mudrika son-of Elias son-of Mudar son-of Nizar son-of Ma'ad son-of Adnan

Genealogy wise, at the time of the Prophet Muhammed ﷺ, what all the members of the tribe of Quraysh had in common was that they were all descendants of Fihr.

At the time of Qusai's conquest of Mecca, one the early sources mentions that the sons of Khuza'a (i.e. the tribe of Khuza'a ) were more numerous than the sons of alNadr in Mecca.

Please note that anything beyond Adnan is not authentic.

Here are a couple images from various sources showing the genealogy of the Quraysh tribe.
