Episode 002 - Pre-Islamic Arabia II [Episode Guide]

The Camel

I'm going to use this opportunity to show you pictures of various Arabian landscapes, and the desert vegetation that camels and other animals graze on.

  1. Started following your podcast, nice initiative you have taken. I have some questions on this episode

    1. What is the source for the beliefs of arabs in arabia before Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Like the story of a person distributing food to people whom they started to pray akin to sheikhs or sufism

Other than this I have some requests. Can u mention the following from Arabia before Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

    1. Life of women
    2. Their attitude towards other religions (like Judaism)
    3. You had mentioned previously that Arabia was the source for spices and incense, I doubt whether arabs sailed to India during the times of Alexander the great or Romans?

Just off the top of my head, I'm sure I mentioned it in the podcast, the story of the man who gave out barley porridge is from Al-Kalbi's the Book of Idols.

I'll add these to list of questions I'm going to answer in the Pre-Islamic Arabia Q&A episode which is probably going to be episode 4. If you have anymore questions for the Pre-Islamic Arabia Q&A episode then feel free to submit them via the contact page:

In the next episode trade will be a primary focus, so stay tuned! Spoiler alert the Arabs did engage in maritime trade with the Indian sub-continent.
